I don't actually ever use the Caps Lock key, so years ago I began rebinding it to custom mappings like desktop switching, global functions, custom shortcuts and more.

Transform your Caps Lock key or any existing modifier into a unified Hyper Key—representing the combination of + + + modifiers—all activated simultaneously for streamlined access to advanced shortcuts across any application. This powerful modifier extends shortcut capabilities, enabling efficient command triggering tailored to your workflow preferences.

Alternatively, customize Caps Lock independently into a more practical function suited to your daily tasks—whether launching applications, navigating interfaces, or controlling system features.

Ideal for power users leveraging tools like Rectangle alongside countless other macOS applications, offering seamless integration without bloating your system or compromising performance.

If you use Raycast or Karabiner-Elements or HyperKey or Better Touch Tool, you can useach of these progams allow you to map the Caps Lock key to a hyper-like key combination. I personally, on macOS, use the Raycast version to trigger 'hyper' mode. I use it so much so that the Caps Lock key has become the resting spot for my pinky on my left hand incidentally.

Ryan Hanson, the creator of HyperKey, has also created SuperKey, which includes Hyper Key but also allows you to rapidly search and match what you type, and click it ― all with the keyboard and anywhere on the screen; like ⌘ + F search but system wide.
